While I am sure that most of us want our students to become followers of Christ and to put their unique gifts and talents to work in the expansion of His Kingdom, what we end up valuing and celebrating falls pathetically far from this aspiration. By the time our students are firmly in mid-adolescence we have communicated a very clear, a very boring, and a very hypocritical version of Christianity. You may already disagree with me because I have no idea how much passion and hard work Youth group blog have put into your gospel centered messages, your exegetical sermons, and 5 point leadership development program. Youth group blog the awful thing that I have found to be true is Youth group blog students could care less with what we say. In fact we truly are the adults in the Peanuts cartoons. What this list does do is take away our excuses. So, here's a list of 7 things in no particular order you should STOP doing to help your group grow deeper and wider. I understand the tyranny of the urgent. And I've definitely been in a position where time to plan was limited. I've been an intern, part-time, bi-vocational and full time. But I know that when I am planning only one week ahead, the quality of what we do suffers. Last-minute planning does 3 things:. So, do what you need to do. Take a week off and get ahead. Even consider asking your volunteers to take over for a week or two so you can get a few weeks ahead. Get ahead and then, stay ahead! As a pastor, your biblical mandate is to equip the saints for the work of the ministry. Just because you get a paycheck every other week doesn't mean that you need to do all the work yourself. You can reach more students, more effectively, more quickly by helping others find their unique place in ministry. Here are a few things that will boost your social media impact:. Post when students are most active. Students check social media first thing in the morning, right after school and throughout the evening. Posting an Instagram photo at If your church expects students to participate in the main services and you have simply done a youth version of that, one of two things will happen. Or, your students will see your ministry as superfluous and therefore not attend, or attend...

Hey, you know what you might already do a lot of? You know what you might be great at? Guest Speaking at schools and churches or becoming a camp speaker. You just need a website and some networking. YouthGroupCollective runs on Squarespace but my church uses Wix which tends to be more customizable and in my opinion easier to use and even has a free option if you just want to get your feet wet with a website builder. Click here if you want to check out wix templates. Funerals on the other hand? I kind of like them. You can read, study, or watch videos, or listen to podcasts.
